ABOUT OUR GENERATION USA!
Picture Above: Evelyn Langford, my Life's Purpose. She is with God now.
Starting in 2014, I began looking for a retirement hobby to keep my mind sharp (this year I am 80!): this website was and is my means of doing just that!
Similarly, since 1961, I also have followed an exercise regimen to overcome the heart disease I inherited from my father's side of my family. Starting in 1961 at my college's gym; and even now, 62 years later (at 80+ years of age), I still work out 3x weekly, presently at Planet Fitness! (For more, see also the web page "Health and Fitness" under the "Humanity" Main Menu.)
In terms of this website, there are three timely reasons for visitors to explore this website:
For "3.", we have utilized sources that are as accurate and factual as we possibly can: this includes major news organizations like Washington Post and the New York Times, and other media including the Wall Street Journal, as well as the resources of Wikipedia, as each might be relevant to the researched topic.
Background:
The change in Society since the 1950s have been profound. Instead of Main Frame computers, we now have the ubiquitous "Smartphone" that you can hold in your hands, not only to make calls and send and receive text messages, but to access the Internet (including this website!) as well as taking "Selfies" with your Smartphone's camera, even including mobile apps to live (and learn) by!
The technological developments have continued to multiply, with the 2003 completion of the Human Genome project, which has brought about many breakthroughs in curing or alleviating many diseases, still ongoing, as found under the "Modern Medicine" web page herein. Even many cancers are being avoided or alleviated, as found under the topic "Immunotherapy".
But perhaps the most profound development, certainly with Social Media (both good and bad as the United States learned from Russia's successful hacking of our 2016 Elections) is the development of the Internet, without which this website would not otherwise have been possible!
Our Mission Statement:
The purpose of this website is to enable you to be taken “down memory lane” to recall what each decade has meant to you, as the transformation of our country can be traced back to the (mostly peaceful) cultural revolution of American society beginning in the 1950s.
But, the website also covers new developments and events, as well as offering the viewer options fitting his interests and generation. By doing so, the viewer can have as complete a history of each decade as he or she desires, including a mixture of time- and genre-appropriate content: e.g., (with any of my choices (and other comments) in red like this):
More about this Website:
For each web topic, you will find from 1-3 YouTube videos as well as images supportive of the topic, along with amplification and further links hopefully relevant to your search. If the operators of YouTube cause any video you click on to indicate that that file is no longer supported, the displayed YouTube will provide you other alternative (and available) YouTube Videos to choose from the same YouTube list!
We have tried to make all of this convenient and as fool-proof as possible: e.g., if you click on a hyperlink, it will open in an additional web page so that you don't get "lost" going from subject-to-subject. Also, as illustrated below, in the lower right corner of each web page you will find an arrow pointing upward: clicking on that takes you back to the top of the web page you are on!
And thanks to Weebly for hosting and enabling me to build this website, so that I can concentrate on content with minimal or no time spent on programming!
Prior to retirement, I had made a living in the magazine publishing field consulting for publishers by helping them find the right printing arrangements as well as to optimize the value of their supplier arrangements.
In fact the Host was cited by FOLIO, the leading publisher about magazines, as the first to use computers (then "microcomputers") in the publishing office, starting in 1981. In 1984, FOLIO, asked the host to write a feature cover article about technology in the publishing workplace as well as (later) articles/columns about supplier arrangements: this continued on until the Host's retirement in 2010.
While working with FOLIO, your Host also wrote the definitive book entitled "Working with a Magazine Printer" (see book cover image below) in 1984.

In terms of this website, there are three timely reasons for visitors to explore this website:
- As single resource for major and relevant developments in American Society since WWII, including ongoing political developments.
- To provide current content about the United States in a Global Society: particularly in light of the Covid-19 Pandemic!
- Finally, to provide a comprehensive (and relevant) knowledge base covering America and the world today, tomorrow and our historic past that has led American democracy to where we are today!
